[Artist Statement]

Through my art, I explore the diverse and multifaceted experiences of Black people. In my work, I portray multiple appendages such as eyes, lips, and ears as a symbol of the various experiences and perspectives that Black people have.

By featuring these appendages prominently, I aim to convey the idea that Black people embody many different experiences and cannot be defined by any singular viewpoint. The eyes represent the different ways in which Black people see themselves, their communities, and the world around them. The ears signify the unique ways in which Black people hear and process information.

I’ve been inspired by an art show with the thesis, “There are black people in the future”. These are those people with a wide range of experiences filled with joy, trauma, love, and pain. Our perspectives are informed by our upbringings, cultures, identities, and lived experiences. These muses are fictional, created from AI generated photos of people that don’t actually exist.
